Michelle Almonte was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and moved to Las Vegas in 2022. She attended the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising in 2022. At the University of Texas, she served for two years as the Editor-in-Chief of The Cactus – the University’s longest-running publication. Additionally, she spent a year serving within the Student Government and student-taught two classes as part of the UT informal classes program, which aimed at providing adult learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) access to stimulating, diverse, and fun post-secondary education opportunities.

Michelle is currently a William S. Boyd School of Law student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She previously served on the Board of Governors of the Student Bar Association as a 1L class representative and is Vice President of the Auction for the Public Interest Law Association and the Community Service Director for the American Constitution Society. She is an active member of the Boyd Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, Federal Bar Association, Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, Black Law Students Association, La Voz, and Las Vegas National Bar Association.

Michelle joined the ACLU of Nevada to grow as a future legal advocate who will serve the community and advocate for civil liberties. In her free time, she enjoys baking, fiber art, and playing with her two dogs, Sonic and Stella.
