LAS VEGAS — With many Nevada voters standing in line at polling places and thousands of mail ballots needing to be counted and cured Tuesday night, this election is not over.
The ACLU of Nevada will continue to monitor each step of the process to ensure every vote is counted and all election laws are followed in every county. The organization released the following statement:
ACLU of Nevada executive director Athar Haseebullah said:
“The election isn’t over until every eligible voter’s ballot is counted, and we will keep aggressively defending our democracy as we have done all year. In recent weeks, the people of Nevada have watched as one of our largest counties treated our elections like a middle school science fair, subjecting voters to needless election experiments rooted in conspiracy theories and disinformation. We took our fight to protect Nye County’s elections to the Supreme Court, and we’ll keep fighting. This year, we’ve educated Nevadans about the critical issues at stake in the Secretary of State’s race, protected the right of North Las Vegas voters to pick their judges, invested in a dedicated voting rights attorney, and assembled dozens of volunteer lawyers for our Voter Protection Alliance program. We will have much more work to do to protect our democracy, no matter who wins when results are announced, and we’re here for the fight.”
