The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to defending and advancing the civil rights and liberties of all Nevadans. Since 1966, we've fought in the courts, at the capitol, and in our communities to protect the rights guaranteed by the U.S. and state constitutions.
From protecting free speech and the right to protest, defending immigrants' rights, fighting for LGBTQ+ equality, safeguarding voting rights, and more, we show up to make sure Nevadans' rights are protected.
Nevada is rich with diversity, and people of all ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds call it home. But across the country, there are attacks on civil liberties and civil rights, including efforts to destroy diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
Every Nevadan has rights, but not everyone knows them. That's why we offer Know Your Rights materials, free Know Your Rights trainings in-person and online, and on-the-ground outreach to make sure Nevadans in every corner of the state understand the rights they have and how to assert them.
From free speech to immigrants' rights, our goal is simple: To empower Nevadans with the Know Your Rights information they need to protect themselves and each other.
We don't do this work in a vacuum. We can't. The valuable contributions of our members, supporters, and volunteers enable us to continue this critical work.
Civil liberties and civil rights don't focus on just one issue area. Our wide-ranging list of priorities, combined with multiple options to get involved and make an impact, means there's a place for everyone in this fight, no matter who you are. Here are some other ways you can take action with us:
