Bio
Samantha is the executive assistant at the ACLU of Nevada. Born and raised in Las Vegas, she is a proud first-generation Cuban American driven by a deep commitment to justice, equity, and community empowerment. She earned her B.A. in Criminology and Justice Studies with a minor in Political Science from California State University, San Marcos.
During her time at CSUSM, Samantha was actively involved in programs dedicated to supporting system-impacted and underrepresented students. Through Project Rebound at California State University, she worked alongside formerly incarcerated scholars and advocates, gaining firsthand insight into the barriers that individuals navigating reentry and higher education face. This experience strengthened her commitment to expanding educational pathways, dismantling stigma, and uplifting those affected by the criminal legal system.
Samantha also participated in the university’s Each One Teach One mentorship initiative, where she supported students from diverse and underserved backgrounds. Her work in the program centered on fostering academic success, building community, and empowering students to reach their goals—reinforcing her belief in the transformative power of mentorship and education.
Before returning to Las Vegas, Samantha spent much of her free time in San Diego advocating for immigrant communities. Her work continues to focus on advancing justice for marginalized populations, particularly through immigration advocacy and prison reform—areas she is deeply passionate about. She is committed to promoting systemic change and uplifting the voices of those most affected by social and institutional inequities. Samantha also plans to pursue a career as an attorney, dedicating her future legal practice to expanding opportunities and protections for vulnerable communities.
Outside of her professional commitments, Samantha loves to travel, enjoys getting matcha, and cherishes spending time with her miniature schnauzer, Stormy.
