The idea of police drones flying over Nevada has attracted a great deal of media and public attention over the past few weeks even though no drones are FAA-licensed for use in our state.

ACLU of Nevada Makes Use-of-Force Policy Recommendations to Metro

The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada today presented the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department with written recommendations for changes in its use-of-force policy.

Today’s communication follows a March 21, 2012 meeting between the ACLU of Nevada, Sheriff Doug Gillespie and other Metro officials, the NAACP of Las Vegas, and new Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, at which the ACLU of Nevada presented Metro with a preliminary draft of its recommendations during a long and wide-ranging meeting.

ACLU Again Urges DOJ for an Investigation of Metro

On March 5, 2012 the ACLU of Nevada sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice reiterating its request for a patterns and practices investigation, under federal civil rights law, of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

ACLU of Nevada and NAACP of Las Vegas Submit Petition to U.S. Justice Department

The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada and the NAACP of Las Vegas on Friday submitted a petition to the U.S. Department of Justice calling for the federal department to conduct a “patterns and practices” investigation of the Metropolitan Las Vegas Police Department.
