National Media for ACLU-NV: Free Speech Defenders
The ACLU of Nevada has had a busy and very cosmopolitan few weeks. On November 12, The New York Times featured our recent victory allowing students at Green Valley High School to perform The Laramie Project and Rent, despite attempts at censorship:

Today’s LA Times features our commitment to First Amendment rights in a very different context -- our recent advocacy against pressure to remove Jim Gilchrist, a controversial leader of the Minutemen who frequents speaks out on immigration issue from a panel at the University of Nevada, Reno. In an editorial, the LA Times applauds our long history of protecting speech, regardless of the speaker: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/editorials/la-ed-aclu23-2009nov23,0,716408.story. It’s all in a day’s work for the ACLU of Nevada, where we are dedicated to protecting First Amendment rights and fighting censorship in a myriad of contexts. The recognition, however, doesn’t hurt.
