Law Enforcement at Burning Man Interaction Form

The ACLU of Nevada collects details about interactions with law enforcement at Burning Man to identify potential problems and establish possible patterns of behavior.

By filing a complaint, the ACLU of Nevada is not agreeing to take your case or or provide other types of assistance. Unless and until the ACLU agrees to take your case, you are solely responsible for any and all statute of limitations or other deadlines which might apply to your specific situation.

If you received a ticket or citation and need legal assistance, please contact a private attorney or Lawyers for Burners, a volunteer organization that helps Participants find lawyers after they have been cited or arrested at the event or otherwise have issues with treatment by law enforcement personnel.

If you feel that your rights were violated by law enforcement at Burning Man, please fill out the ACLU of Nevada's Law Enforcement Complaint Form.

The ACLU of Nevada cannot guarantee representation to any individual who feels that their rights were violated by law enforcement at Burning Man. If you received a ticket or citation and do not have representation, please contact Lawyers for Burners, which may be able to connect you with a volunteer attorney. 

Police are at Burning Man - so is the U.S. Constitution

The ACLU of Nevada will be at Burning Man to act as legal observers and to protect the rights of all Black Rock City citizens. We have office hours at the Playa Info Booth located at 6:00 and Center Camp where we hand out "Know Your Rights" cards and collect feedback forms about citizens’ interactions with law enforcement. The ACLU of Nevada cannot give legal advice, either on or off of the Playa.

You do not give up your constitutional freedoms and liberties at Burning Man. Your rights are brought to you by the U.S. Constitution, and protected on the Playa by the ACLU of Nevada.

2011 ACLU Office Hours at Playa Info

ACLU of Nevada employees and volunteers will have office hours at the Playa Info Booth located at 6:00 and Center Camp.

Our office hours are: 

- Monday through Wednesday 2:00 to 6:00 PM 

- Thursday through Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 PM

Stop by to get a "Know Your Rights" card or tell us about an interaction with law enforcement.
