ACLU of Nevada Hosts MILK Screening Party
Las Vegas ACLU staff, supporters, and friends turned out on Tuesday, November 25 for an advance screening of MILK. The new film, starring Sean Penn, chronicles the life and times of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay public official in the United States.
It provides insight into the early days of the gay rights movement in San Francisco and elsewhere – an especially timely topic given current national discussions about marriage equality. The tickets were offered to the ACLU of Nevada in recognition of its history of advocacy on behalf of the LGBT community.
After the screening, shown at the Palms Casino Resort, the ACLU group gathered upstairs at Ghostbar to reflect on the movie and socialize while enjoying a view of the Las Vegas Strip.
Thanks to everyone who turned out and made the evening a success. Also, a huge thank you to Barclay Communications for the screening passes and to the N9NE Group for the space at Ghostbar. We hope to organize more events, in the north and south, in the coming months!
